A New Home for Advancement
TTI Innovation Center, a 300,000-square-foot office and product development facility, enhances the ability for Techtronic Industries (TTI) to deliver breakthrough products.
The innovation center brought 250 new jobs to Anderson County, S.C. and includes three main buildings, a parking deck, a chiller plant, a battery testing lab, and walking trails and fields on site for community use.
When they began planning for the center, designers sought a building envelope solution to reflect the contemporary, innovative nature of TTI. Metl-Span architectural metal panels rose to the occasion for an all-in-one, creative application.
Focus on Performance
TTI designs and develops high-performance, high-quality, emissions-free cordless power tools and equipment. At the innovation center, TTI has a manufacturing plant and assembly warehouse, a reconditioning plant, and an outdoor testing facility.
“TTI wanted to reflect their image with a well-crafted, eye-catching building as it is visible from the interstate,” said Earle Hungerford, architect with McMillan Pazdan Smith. “We were able to create the image they were looking for in a cost-effective manner and erect the building quickly.”
CF Architectural Flat panels from Metl-Span were the prime solution. The concealed fastener architectural panels created a stand-out design with nearly 24,000 square feet in Silversmith and 5,000 square feet in Dark Gray Metallic.
The insulated metal panels integrate with accents of aluminum composite metal for a design that broke up the large wall mass and eliminated the need for additional materials for the building envelope while offering optimal performance characteristics in the long run.
Added Aesthetics and Protection
Metl-Span insulated architectural panels offer thicker gauge-facings providing a high-profile appearance and eliminating metal flashings. With flat, smooth profiles, these architectural panels add to a building’s aesthetic appeal.
A polyurethane core encapsulated by two steel facings creates an all-in-one building envelope solution, making installation easy and no additional insulation needed. Architectural wall panels are lightweight while significantly lowering heating and cooling costs.
Grand Opening
The Metl-Span panels were installed in six weeks during the year of construction. TTI Innovation Center opened in 2019.
In 2020, Metl-Span awarded TTI Innovation Center the designation of 2020 Building of the Year for aesthetics, insulated metal panels usage, and community partnerships.
Metl-Span is a NUCOR® company. (NYSE: NUE ); delivering high-quality, durable and energy-efficient insulated metal panels designed for unparalleled performance to stand the test of time.
