Metl-Span’s ThermalSafe® fire-resistant panels meet the required ratings for ASTM E 119, CAN/ULC 101, and UL 263 through Intertek and UL+ fire approval, in both the U.S. and Canada. ThermalSafe achieves a one-, two-, or three-hour fire rating for walls and 1.5 hours for ceilings, making it the fire-resistant panel of choice. These fire rated metal panel systems maximize fire resistance performance, ensuring properties and people are safeguarded from fire.
ThermalSafe fire rated metal panel systems are made with a non-combustible structural mineral wool core to maximize compressive strength. They also include LockGuard®, an exclusive double tongue-and-groove interlocking side joint, to further enhance the fire-resistant performance.
These UL fire rated panel systems provide efficient thermal performance and protection from elements and are ideal for industrial and high fire risk building applications.
You can choose from a variety of profiles including Santa Fe, Striated, and Ultra-Light Mesa. Contact our representatives today for assistance in choosing the best panel option based on your unique needs.
Exclusive LockGuard side joint has a flush, double tongue and groove connection of the metal faces with an advanced integral spline to join the mineral wool core

The Ark at JFK Airport
The Ark at JFK utilizes nearly 6,000 square feet of Metl-Span’s 7-inch ThermalSafe fire rated panels. The panels achieve a three-hour fire resistance rating, helping the design team meet today’s stringent fire codes while transforming the 60-year-old cargo facility to a 21st century one.
The waterpark’s facilities, situated atop the parking structure, called for a two-hour rating on the firebreak panels. ThermalSafe fire resistant panels were then installed on the ceilings of the four parking levels to meet local code requirements.
The Sofidel Centerville, the first greenfield paper plant, utilizes nearly 500,000 square feet of Metl-Span’s 6-inch ThermalSafe insulated metal wall panels, achieving a two-hour fire rating while meeting building code requirements.
The Lander County Recreation Center requested additional storage space during the construction process to meet the needs of its growing suite of programs. Given the center’s proximity to a nearby school, the fire-rated panels were utilized to meet building codes. 972 square feet of 24-gauge, 4-inch ThermalSafe panels were then incorporated to their facility.
