Metl-Span Wall Panels In Starring Role On High School Auditorium Project

Metl-Span wall panels provided “the basis of design” for a major auditorium addition to Centerville High School, Centerville, OH, according to the project architect. The new 1,200 seat auditorium project utilized approximately 12,000 sq. ft. of Metl-Span’s CF-30 Architectural wall panels finished in Desert Beige.

Design for the project was provided by Levin Porter Associates, Dayton, OH. Project architect Patrick Hillier explains that “our firm has a strong history of using metal panels as a design element.” Although this was the first time the firm had used Metl-Span, according to Hillier, “The panel had a good price point and worked well with the design concept. For cost effectiveness, we wanted to stay within available modules. Getting that information from Metl-Span during the design stage was very helpful so that we could make the best decisions. It was the basis of our design.”

The designers selected Metl-Span’s 30” module width with 3” thickness. The CF Architectural wall panels are also available in 24” and 36” module widths. Other standard thicknesses include 2”, 2 ½” and 4”.

The lower levels of the new auditorium utilized brick to blend with existing portions of the building. “But we decided to use Metl-Span panels on the upper parts of the auditorium that reached 20’ to 30’ higher. We thought brick would be too heavy looking and would be too difficult to support.”

The Metl-Span panels sheath a state-of-the-art acoustic brick utilized on the interior of the auditorium.

Installation of the Metl-Span panels was done by ProCLAD, Inc., Indianapolis, IN. The general contractor on the project was Peterson Construction Company, Wapakoneta, OH.

Metl-Span pioneered many of the developments of insulated metal panels and continues to make significant contributions to design innovations and technology that shape industry standards. For more information on the complete line of Metl-Span products, call 877-585-9969 or visit www.metlspan.com.
